Flashnote Derby is a captivating and educational tool designed to help children learn and practice reading music notes. By transforming the learning experience into an exciting racing game, students are motivated to master their musical skills.

During each race, students are faced with a timed test where they must identify different notes to propel their horse towards the finish line. Responding quickly and accurately allows their horse to gain ground, while incorrect answers set them back. After each race, students have the opportunity to review the notes they missed and view the correct answers, reinforcing their learning process.

Flashnote Derby offers various response methods for players. They can play the note on their acoustic or MIDI instrument, tap letter buttons, or play a key on an on-screen piano. This versatility caters to individual preferences and enhances engagement.

The game boasts full customization, allowing users to include desired notes in any clef (treble, bass, alto, or tenor). Specific areas that require improvement can be targeted by selecting ranges of notes or individual notes. To increase the challenge for advanced students, sharps, flats, and even key signatures can be added. Additionally, the time allotted for each flashcard can be adjusted based on age and experience level.

The drills in Flashnote Derby start with a simple set of notes and become progressively more challenging until the player masters the full staff (up to five and a half ledger lines above or below it). Points are awarded based on the difficulty settings selected. The game also tracks a "high score" to provide players with an ongoing goal.

As an added benefit, the app offers over a dozen instructional video lessons that are easily accessible. Even children without prior music instruction can begin learning about the music alphabet, staff notation, and note identification using Flashnote Derby.
